The workshop is organized in Dubrovnik from Sept 19th– Sept 21th2022, as a part of the The 27thAnnual International Conference on Information Technology and Journalism: “Free Internet but the content comes at a price”.

The workshop focuses on changes in the media habits and disruption in information order and the emergence of disinformation systems in the times of crises. The workshop deals with relevant topics for new situations in which we find ourselves in recent years, and even now, which have a significant impact on the individuals, nationally, and globally. We especially welcome papers addressing the following topics:

  • Individual media usage
  • Lifestyle – trivial topics or newsworthy content
  • Crisis communication;
  • Strategic communication;
  • Political communication in crisis situations;
  • Political communication on new platforms;
  • Subscriptions to media content;
  • Trust in the media;
  • Internet and hybrid war

We are also welcoming submissions for the Conference which address the following topics: 

  • Subscriptions to media content;
  • Information, disinformation, misinformation…
  • Trust and mistrust
  • Attention economy and wireless journalism
  • Information ecology

RC10 has launched the Smart Cities Initiative within its board, in collaboration with other research committees, this year’s conference also accepts papers on:

  • Smart&Green solutions 
  • Digital solutions and sustainable energy

ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

Abstracts should not be longer than 500 words and should include:

  • Title
  • Author and Affiliation
  • Core theoretical premise of the paper
  • Methodology and relevant information on data collection and analysis
  • Key findings or questions that analysis will address in an ongoing or future research

 

Abstract deadline: June 20th2022.

Notification of acceptance sent out July 11th2022.

Registration and Conference Fees:

All participants (presenters and non-presenters) must register to be able to attend the conference.

Early bird (Until June 1st) : Paper presenters and co-authors: 120 Euros 

Paper presenters and co-authors: 250 Euros

Students and non-presenters: 70 Euros

Our workshop is supported by IPSA RC10 and RC22 and organized by the Faculty of Political Science,(http://fpzg.hr/), University of Zagreb (http://www.unizg.hr),  InMed Institute (https://www.edemokracija.hr/), and Fake news museum (https://mlv.hr).

Annual International Conference on Information Technology and Journalism (ITJ) conference has been organized for 27 years now. The joint RC10/RC22 workshop was first launched in 2010 and has been organized as part of the conference since then.

Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik is an independent international institution for advanced studies structured as a consortium of universities with a mission to organize and promote contact and exchange through projects, study programs, courses and conferences across a wide range of scientific concerns. Program directors and resource persons coming from about 170 member universities worldwide cooperate in organizing the activities. IUC is open to new member institutions as well as to new programs.
